IRINA LAKICEVIC WALKS THE STREETS OF BERGEN IN STYLE
Irina Lakicevic is the ultra stylish dentist from the rainy Norwegian town of Bergen proving that hard work doesn't mean compromising on fashion. Dreaming about her next big purchase while saying “open wide” at her busy clinic , Lakicevic showcases her unique street style with a sophisticated edge on her blog A Portable Package.
Creating the site in 2012, the multitalented 26-year-old has seemed to effortlessly combine her high powered career with her eye catching fashion platform, “I have always had my own style and a tendency to combine things in a different way to the people around me. Living for fashion magazines and photography just made an extra step towards blogging quite natural," she explains. "A regular day for me means getting up at about 6am, going to work as a dentist, coming home around 5-6 pm to continue work on blog related things. Answering interviews, editing photos, going through trend, garments designers and plotting what to do next”.
From the picturesque streets of Bergen, Lakicevic uploads stunning photographs of her favourite ensembles. From a cozy shearling coat by Burberry, to something as simple as her boyfriend’s ACNE t-shirt, she credits her unique style to her favourite designers and fashion icons, “I just love the kind of woman who says to the world that she can look good, have a great job and juggle her private life. It is women like Carine Roitfeld, Taylor Tomasi Hill, etc who are style wizards, but also business women. I admire that. In terms of designers, I live for Dries Van Noten both menswear and womenswear. But actually I love those that take a fresh twist on a simple classic, no need saying Celine's Pheobe Philo is a master at it. I also love Chanel”.
What really drives Lakicevic though is her passion for fashion. While for some, our clothing serves as a mere practicality, for our Bergen blogger, it speaks volumes about the wearer, “I think whether we like it or not, how we look is the first thing people notice when they meet you, and immediately make an impression. So, it is a type of non-verbal communication, giving us means to visually express ourselves. It is also very very fun.”
Finally, Lakicevic couldn’t forget about our trendy readers at Mr. Wolf and filled us in on some invaluable tips for any fashionista, “Don't have too many of the same things in the wardrobe, I am always trying to fill the gaps in my closet. I also swear by clothing tailored to your body type, and knowing what suits you, disregarding trends. When it comes to getting ready, it shouldn’t take longer than 30 minutes, after that you are just going to screw it up, or overdo it, or at least I am.”
